Many large organizations and consulting firms have multiple software
acquisition or software evaluation projects going on in parallel. So,
if you occasionally or frequently create Evaluation Specifications (and Requests for Proposal (RFPs)), you will
realize that some requirements are specific to an Evaluation
Specification, while others are needed in almost every Evaluation
Specification. The latter group of requirements may be termed
'horizontal' requirements, since almost every Evaluation Specification
includes them. For example, Evaluation Specifications about Business
Process Modeling Tools and Business Rule Tools both include a set of
security-related requirements.
The Business Infrastructure Requirements Package provides a view into the
Functional Requirements Repository (FRR). The FRR is a central requirements repository, which holds all requirement
templates. It is frequently updated and extended.
The following figure provides you with an impression of the Requirements Package Browser. A list of Requirements is presented for
each Requirement Category as you navigate the hierarchical Requirement
Categories Tree View.
When you select a Template Requirement, the view will change and you will be shown the Requirement Template details.
All you need to do is
select the requirement templates that you need and import them into
your Evaluation Specification via drag & drop. It will never be
simpler to save time and effort when creating an Evaluation
Specification.
The Business Infrastructure Requirements Package contains requirement templates about the following general topics:
- Product Architecture
- Service-oriented Architecture (SOA)
- Interfaces, Protocols and Formats
- Runtime Infrastructure
- Repositories
- Installation and Deployment
- Team Development
- Development Environment
- Management and Administration
- Security.
It is now available for
licensing on an annual subscription basis. It includes all other
domain-specific Requirements Packages, such as the "Security
RP".
