Evaluation Specification Editor PDF Print E-mail

Evaluation Specification Editor Editions

To start with, there are two editions of the Evaluation Specification Editor:

  • The Standard Edition (ESEdit) and
  • The Content Provider Edition (ESEdit-CPE).

ESEdit

Top 5 Features:

  • Lets you create and edit sophisticated custom Evaluation Specifications with multiple hierarchy levels;
  • Sophisticated user interface with built-in structure validation;
  • Ready-to-use Evaluation Specifications can be imported from the central repository for customization;
  • You can import ready-to-use Requirements via the Requirements Package Browser using drag & drop;
  • The RFP generation feature lets you generate a Request for Proposal (RFP).

ESEdit allows you to import Evaluation Specifications from the central repository. Evaluation Specifications in the central repository are made available by Content Providers for a fee. Therefore, to be able to import an Evaluation Specification for modification, you need to purchase an Evaluation Specification Usage License (ESUL) from the online store. An ESUL is a Digital Content License.

There may be one or more Evaluation Specification for demonstration purposes, which you can download free of charge.

Evaluation Specifications in the central repository have been authored by domain experts, which typically can rely on vast experience. Thus, a ready-for-use, yet customizable Evaluation Specification gives you a jump-start, saves you from numerous hours of authoring work, and pays for itself from the outset.

Browsing the central Evaluation Specification Repository

When you are looking for an Evaluation Specification that you could import and customize to suit your particular needs, it will be a good idea to browse the central repository.

You can view the hierarchical structure of Evaluation Specifications, but for understandable reasons, you cannot view an entire Evaluation Specification. However, you will be in the position to make an educated decision as to whether the license fee will be justified.

Please note that data transfer incurred by viewing of an Evaluation will take some time, since Evaluation Specifications can become quite large.

Importing an Evaluation Specification

Once you have acquired the required License Key, you can import the respective Evaluation Specification for customization. You will recognize that the checkbox in the 'Editable' column is ticked. Just right-click with the mouse or select the respective menu option. The  'Import' function will open a new tab, and you may now edit the imported Evaluation Specification. However, it is recommended to save it to disk first.

ESEdit-CPE (Content Provider Edition)

ESEdit-CPE allows you to import small Evaluation Specification templates from the central repository. Evaluation Specification templates can be used for free.

You would use the Content Provider Edition in the following cases:

  • You plan to author an Evaluation Specification, which you would like to make available in the central repository;
  • You need to create an Evaluation Specification from scratch, since there is no ready-to-use Evaluation Specification that suits your requirements.

Top 5 Features:

  • Lets you create and edit sophisticated custom Evaluation Specifications with multiple hierarchy levels;
  • Sophisticated user interface with built-in structure validation;
  • You can import ready-to-use Requirements via the Requirements Package Browser using drag & drop;
  • The RFP generation feature lets you generate a Request for Proposal (RFP);
  • You can generate Excel spreadsheets, which contain all the formulas needed for the computation of aggregates at multiple levels.

ESEdit-CPE application behavior is almost identical with ESEdit.
