Document Tree Structure PDF Print E-mail

All EAS documents have a tree structure in common, which reflects the hierarchical arrangement of information elements.

DocumentTreeStructure Each information element belongs to one of the following types:

Type  Symbol Description
Header varies The top-level element of an EAS document (e.g. "Evaluation Specification", "RFP", "Evaluation Project Spreadsheet")
 Part  P

Structures a document into major segments (e.g. "Introduction", "Requirements For Business Partners", "Product Requirements").

There is no limit to the number of parts. However, a document must have at least one part.

Section   S

An element used to structure a document.

Sections may be arbitrarily nested.

Paragraph  T A self-contained unit of a discourse in a written text dealing with a particular point or idea.
Requirement Group  G

A special type of Section, which contains information about Requirements.

Requirement Groups cannot be nested.

Requirement  R

A singular documented need of what a particular product, service or methodology should be or do.

A Requirement must have a Requirement Group as its higher-ranking element.
