Basic Application Layout PDF Print E-mail

Each application within the EAS presents a tabbed window. With the exception of the Evaluation Specification Editor there are always two tabs: the Worklist tab and the Document Detail tab. The Evaluation Specification Editor display a third tab, the Central Repository tab.

Basic Application Layout

The Worklist Tab

After an application has started up, you will see a "Worklist" tab. The worklist is intended to contain items (e.g. Evaluation Specifications, RFPs, etc.) that you frequently work with. At application startup, files referenced by worklist entries are opened and loaded into a cache. Thus, when you open a document from the worklist, it is effectively loaded from cache.

The following screen shot shows the Worklist View of the Evaluation Specification Editor (ESEdit).

Worklist Example

You can remove an entry from the worklist if you do not frequently need it anymore. Please note that removing an entry from the worklist does not mean that the file is physically deleted from disk. You can open a file from disk and have it included in the worklist at any time.

The Document Detail Tab

A "Document Detail" tab is created when a document is opened. You can now edit the document. When you are finished, you close the tab. If a document has been modified and you are about to close the tab, you will be prompted to save the document.

You can have multiple documents concurrently open. This allows you to quickly switch between documents and, for example, use copy & paste for data exchange among documents.

Each document is presented as a hierarchical element structure. The topmost element in the hierarchy tree is always the document header (e.g. "Evaluation Specification Header". The document header contains information that applies to the document as a whole. The tree below the root node can be likened to a table of contents in an ordinary paper document.
