Wouldn't it be just great to have a truly open information model, which is
- Based on open standards
- Flexible and extensible
It's here!
The Business Management Ontology (BMO) is based on the Web Ontology
Language (OWL), an XML/RDF/RDFS-based language standard and a W3C
Recommendation since February 2004. OWL is an ontology language
developed for the Semantic Web.
The BMO is flexible and extensible in that it allows you to enhance the information model to meet your specific requirements.
It is a semantics-rich information model, and semantics are
machine-interpretable. Ontology languages support automated reasoning.
For example, it would be possible to infer that a person who received
medical treatment is a patient.
